Frequently Asked Questions

How does the smiley face nib help with writing?

The smiley face is engraved on the top surface of the nib. As long as the smiling face is looking directly up at you, your pen is positioned at the correct angle to deliver smooth, consistent ink flow.

What ink cartridges or converters does this pen support?

The pen is compatible with all proprietary Pilot fountain pen ink cartridges (such as IC-50 and IC-100) and Pilot rotary converters like the CON-40 for use with bottled fountain pen ink.

What makes the Family Series distinct?

Each barrel colour represents a different family member with its own custom nib expression, including Papa (Blue), Mama (Pink), Boy (Green), Girl (Violet), and Baby (Yellow).

Is the Pilot Kakuno suitable for left-handed writers?

Yes. The relaxed triangular grip and smooth-finishing stainless steel nib provide consistent ink flow at various hand angles, making it comfortable for both left- and right-handed writers.
